Chapel Saint Mary Magdalene

The small chapel dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene was built in 1745 and is located on the ancient road that led from Castelpetroso to Isernia. The building is small, characterized by a gabled façade and exposed stone walls. The interior is austere, in Arte Povera style, but embellished with a valuable canvas by the Molise painter Raffaele Gioia from the 18th century. Outside is a square paved with stone slabs of various origins and surrounded by centuries-old oak trees. Beyond the small church, you can observe a botanical garden filled with shrubs, herbs, and trees, including several olive trees, a symbol of brotherhood and universal peace. To the right of the chapel is a beautiful lawn dedicated to our emigrants, which will host two large olive trees as a sign of gratitude to those who contributed to the creation of this small oasis of peace. The small church was restored in the 1990s with contributions from the entire Guasto community. The path leading to the chapel is lined with peasant tools, and near the building stands a monument dedicated to Saint Pio of Pietrelcina.
